Hi, I’m dp/darren patrick. I am an agitator-organizer, writer-poet, unrepentant faggot, and interdependent scholar based in Tkaronto/Toronto.
I completed my PhD in Environmental Studies at York University in October 2019. My research is rooted in long-term collaboration with Laboratorio Smaschieramenti, a TransFeministQueer/frocia autonomous collective based in Bologna, Italy. Since completing my PhD, I have been Lecturer at the University of Toronto’s Women and Gender Studies Institute (2019-2020) and I am currently an Editor and Publications Manager for GenUrb: Urbanization, Gender, and the Global South, a transformative knowledge network based at The City Institute at York University and in nine cities around the world.
I have not regularly updated this site over the last several years, so Queer Urban Ecologies (QUE) serves as something of an archive of my years as a PhD Student. During that time, QUE was a place for giving life to ideas, for adding pixels to the picture, for experimentation, and for thinking autonomously. It comprises a mixture of the personal, the political, and the professional. I will be launching a new website very soon. Stay tuned, bunnies!
You can read a little bit more about my current and past academic work here.
I am also a founding/former member of the Antipod Sound Collective, which produces Antipod: A Radical Geography Podcast. Learn more and listen here.
good to find more fellow-travelers, we would welcome any and all feedback, cheers, dmf
